1885-1918
During his flying career, Jack McGee, one of Pawtucket's most famous sons and a pioneer in this country's aviation history, used this general area of Darlington to make many of his historic flights.On June 11th 1918 he was killed when the Wright aeroplane flying boat he was testing for the Galladett Aircraft Corporation plunged into the Cowesett Bay in East Greenwich RI. Ending the career of one of the country's first pioneer aviators
