On November 3, 1955, the Game Commission purchased this property from the Ligonier Valley Railroad Company, which was incorporated on April 13, 1853. Construction of the railroad was completed December 1, 1877.

This building, erected in 1910 and known as the "Ligonier Depot" housed the passenger station and general offices of the railroad.
