A French sculptor and friend of De Laboulaye, he created the Statue of "Liberty Enlightening the World" and selected its site. Inspired by his first view of New York Harbor, Bartholdi later wrote "The Statue was born for this place which inspired its conception".HM Number | HMXMF |
