Founded 12 June 1759
First planned Moravian Village in N. Carolina. Colonial and antebellum trade and agricultural center. Only remaining continuous, independent Wachovia Settlement. Contains unique remnants of original medieval style plan where families lived in a central village and the Moravian church assigned each family roughly equal strip fields in bottom-lands along Muddy Creek and orchard lots on higher ground.HM Number | HMZJO |
