This framework and brick home was built in 1758 for the Vorsteher (for-shtay-er), who served his community as business manager and treasurer. His duties would have been similar to those of the present-day city manager's. Due to soil erosion, the archaeologists did not find much at this site. Some stones from the early foundations show scars from farmers plows. Also, the high water table and a large walnut tree further hampered excavation of this site.

"It was decided some days ago the Br. Jacob Loesch needed help in his office as Vorsteher; so today a 'Committee of Outward Affairs' was organized in Bethabara."
Bethabara Diary, November 4, 1759.
