Gen. Lafayette was received here 1824The remains of President Lincoln and many other prominent men, lay in state here. The State Library was adjoining and with Capitol, demolished 1883. Fronting on this park stood Congress Hall, famous for its distinguished guests. Daniel Webster addressed citizens from its steps 1844Bi-Centennial Tablet 1886
