Huntsville Madison County Veterans Memorial
Known by many as "the War to end all Wars," World War I broke out in Europe in the summer of 1914 between the allied powers (United Kingdom, France, Russia, Italy) and the Central Powers (Germany, Austria-Hungry, The Ottoman Empire). As the first global conflict of the industrial age, World War I introduced new weapons such as the airplane, tank, poison gas, submarine, and machine gun that took the lives of millions of soldiers and civilians.HM Number | HM1CRB |
