Bollards, used to secure ropes from a ship, are found all along the canal. Most were plain and serviceable. This bollard, made from polished carved limestone and placed on a base, was a prototype for possible use along the present canal. Though never actually used, this one rested at the home of Chief Engineer J.L. Weller on Queenston Street. Port Weller was named in his honor.
