French: Jean Demers ou Dumets, de Dieppe, entreprit la construction de cette maison en 1689. Les maçons Le Rouge, Reonault et Charpentier y travaillèrent. Elle a été habitée par la famille Demers jusqu'en 1764.
Le carré de la maison a résisté aux bombardements de la flotte anglaise en 1759. La charpente à pannes de la toiture date de 1764. La maison contient encore quatre foyers d'origine et des plafonds anciens à poutres cordonnées.
De Jean Demers et de Jeanne Védie, son épouse, sont issue les nombreux Demers de la région de Québec.
La Commission des monuments historiques classa la maison en 1966. Me Paul-Arthur Demers fit don de cette plaque en 1989.
English translation:
Jean Demers or Dumets, from Dieppe, undertook the construction of this house in 1689. The masons Le Rouge, Reonault and Charpentier worked there. It was inhabited by the Demers family until 1764.
The house withstood bombardment by the the English fleet in 1759. The structure of the roof purlins date from 1764. The house still contains four original fireplaces and old-beam ceilings.
Jean Demers and Jeanne Védie, his wife, have many Demers descendants in the Quebec City area.
The Historic Monuments Commission registered the house in 1966. Mr. Paul-Arthur Demers donated this plaque in 1989.

I Saw The Marker
The marker is in the rear, to see it, you must climb the stairs to your left, which will bring you up to the Rue Petit Champlain, the marker is near the top of the stairs, to the right of the door, to the jewelry shop.
