A one-room schoolhouse,
Suffern's first, was erected
nearby circa 1853. In 1880
a five-room schoolhouse
was built on this site. By
1901 a brick school was
constructed for $25,000
to accommodate a growing
student population. As
more students started to
further their education,
the first high school was
incorporated within the
structure in 1905. Sold
in 1943, the school was
converted into the Artwire
Factory and in 1995,
into apartments.
