I Saw The Marker
There is also a small but very informative museum on the site and I high recommend that stop in. What is unique about the Spirit Lake Massacre is that the incident that put every thing into motion took place just north of Boone, Iowa on the Des Moines River. I have been researching the SLM for a number of years now so I plan on adding about 15 markers that have a direct relationship to the SLM.
