This unit was formed from 2nd Squadron 121st Cavalry NYRG serving Feb. 1928 to October 1940 at Buffalo, N.Y. The unit was converted and redesignated 102nd Separate Battalion Coast Artillery (AA) Oct. 1940 Unit inducted into Federal Service Jan. 6, 1941 and stationed at Camp Edwards, Mass. Additional 200 men from Ft. Niagara assigned to unit. On Jan. 1, 1942 the 102nd furnished 280 men to man the guns on troop ships, freighters and tankers sailing to ports in all theatres of war. Jan. 20, 1942 400 men from Ft. Eustis, VA assigned to unit. Feb. 10, 1942 unit left for southwest Pacific theatre. Battle honors World War II - Darwin Australia East Indies Papua - New Guinea - Leyte - Mindoro - Luzon and southern Philippines At the conclusion of World War II unit deactivated at Luzon, Philippine Islands in December 1945.
