Historical Marker Since 1947
During its heyday from 1893 to 1898 when $1,000,000 in gold was mined from this area about 300 people dwelt here with majestic Superstition Mtn. in the background. 300 ft. south of this sign is the old Bluebird Mine found in the gold rush of 1893. A dozen gold mines in the area have produced very rich gold and silver ore. Main Street paralleled the present Apache Trail and was lined with gambling houses, saloons and stores. The old school house stood where the old house is. Sporadic mining operations since 1950 have produced $2,000,000.HM Number | HM1R2O |
