Boys' Central High School was founded in 1843, relocated to this site in 1913 and was renamed Warren Easton Boys' High School in honor of the superintendent of New Orleans public schools, 1888-1910. The building was designed by E.A. Christy, noted architect of the Orleans Parish School Board 1911-1940. Easton became coeducational in 1952, integrated in 1967, and a fundamental magnet school in 1977. After it was badly damaged by Hurricane Katrina in 2005, it reopened as a charter school in 2006.
