Army of Tennessee
—C.S.A. —
This division was commanded by Major General Patrick R. Cleburne, and consisted of Granbury's Texas Brigade, Govan's Arkansas Brigade, and Lowry's Alabama and Mississippi Brigade. They were engaged around the Cotton Gin, which stood S.E. of the Carter House. It is said that you could always tell where Cleburne's Division was on the field, because their division flag was blue with the full moon and was usually to be found at the heaviest fighting. Cleburne's Division lost 53% casualties including their beloved commander.HM Number | HM1YG8 |
