On February 23-25, 1979, about 300 activists from across the nation met at the Arch Street Meeting House to plan the seminal National March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights. Here, leaders organized a march on October 14, 1979, that with 100,000 demonstrators helped define and propel a national civil rights movement.
