Built in 1782 by Salmon Dutton, this house—the first dwelling brought to the Museum—was dismantled and moved from Cavendish, Vermont, in 1950. Dutton, who emigrated from Massachusetts, was a surveyor, town official, and toll road owner. His descendants occupied the house until 1900, adding wings for a store, inn, and housing for mill workers.HM Number | HM2292 |
