This regiment was detailed for service on gunboats by order of Maj. Gen. William T. Sherman, dated February 6, 1863; before that date it was attached to 1st Brigade, 1st Division, 15th Corps, Army of the Tennessee. Casualties: in the bombardment of Grand Gulf, April 29, killed 1, wounded 18, total 19; near Yazoo City, May 23, killed 1; near Vicksburg, May 23, wounded 5; near Vicksburg, May 27, killed 3, wounded 1, total 4; and during remainder of the siege, not reported.
