Over 900 people attended a champagne gala to
celebrate the opening of the first theatre in the
young city of Pleasant Hill. The first movie shown
that night of February 21, 1967 was "Dr. Zhivago".
Originally built for Century Theatres, the star-topped, futuristic dome building was designed by
Vincent G. Raney for Syufy Enterprises. Later
operating as the CineArts Theatre, "the Dome"
provided many years of movie enjoyment and
memories until its final showing on April 21, 2013.
