Signal Corps, Capt. C. A. King.
The Detachment of the 54th Alabama, Buford's Brigade, Loring's
Division, was engaged in the Battle of Champion's Hill, May 16, 1863,
and served in the defense. Neither the Detachment, the City Guards
nor the Signal Corps are mentioned in the "official records" except
in the statement of the organization of the Confederate Army
of Vicksburg.
