Site: Boardinghouse Park
Material: Granite, brick, and steel
These sculptures, located in three corners of the park, are composed of simple forms based on Lowell symbols that have been combined in a modular design. The shapes represent aspects of factory cities. The thread spool/beehive piece, for example, is a symbol of industry. Sculpture One includes a six-ton silhouette of Francis Cabot Lowell, for whom the city was named.
