Married in 1900, both descended from Sutton County founding families, raised their twelve children, Edith, Cora, Fred, Joe, George, John, Jack, Frances, Mercedes (Dee), Clifford, Serena, Mildred (Millie) here.

Fred died in 1923. His wife, affectionately known as "Aunt Rena" and to her grand-children as "Big Mama" died in 1968.
