Anderson Ferry, on Little River 2 miles north of this point, was in operation during the early 1800's. It served the pioneers traveling to southwest Arkansas and Texas on the Old Southwest Trail. Anderson Ferry provided a passage from Old Paraclifta to Mineola and Willow Springs (Rocky Comfort). This segment of the Southwest Trail was known as the Old Military Road. From Willow Springs the trail continued to Laynesport on Red River. The Anderson family operated the ferry throughout the first half of the nineteenth century.
