Cast in Ft. Pitt, PA in 1862

Largest piece of artillery used in the Civil War, It was used
for sea coast fortifications or on mortar boats for siege
operations.

Fired explosive projectile weighing about 280 pounds a distance
of up to 4,325 yards.

This mortar was recovered from a small canal off Tensaw River
in north Baldwin County.
