Semaphores were signaling devices used along railroads to control the movement of trains. The position of the blades and colored lenses told the engineer whether he should continue at the present speed, slow down and proceed with caution or move to a siding for oncoming traffic. This semaphore stood near the Union Pacific Depot at Bonners Ferry from 1963 to 1985. It was removed and placed in county storage. The signal was donated to the Museum and placed in is present position on May, 12, 2010.
