St. Charles Gas Company · 1941-1989
—1906 · Frank Bezzenberger —
The St. Charles Lighting Company was organized in 1871. By the next year, it had doubled its business, burning 10,000 bushels of gas-grade coal to supply 135 private customers and 59 city street lamps. "Do not think for one minute that gas is a luxury. Coal and wood stoves are the luxury now. Burn your gas stove all winter and it will cost you less money than coal or wood: only $20 for winter use in your kitchen."HM Number | HM2CBX |
