Beneath the floor of the rear portion of the Wilson Studio and Peirano Market lies
a major segment of the Mission Lavanderia. Built to serve the Mission converts, it provided washing facilities for clothing and was part of an
extensive aqueduct system that brought water for domestic and agricultural use. This system was constructed during the period of 1792 - 1815 and was one of the finest examples in
Spanish California. It served the
community until 1862.
