Vondel (1587-1679), 'Prins der Nederlandse
dichters'. Hij dreef hier een zijde- en kousen-winkel en schreef er zijn beroemdste toneelwerk, de Gijsbrecht van Aemstel (1638).

he ran a silk shop and hosier as well as writing
his most famous play entitled Gijsbrecht van
Aemstel (1638).
