UH-1 Helicopter The Bell UH-1 "Huey" helicopter is commonly referred to as the workhorse of the Vietnam War. It was responsible for lifesaving, medical evacuation, troop and cargo movement, and when properly equipped, as a gunship. This helicopter served in Vietnam from Nov 1968 to Feb 1972, accumulated over 3000 flight hours in a combat zone, and was attached to the 1st Air Cav. Currently it carries the markings of the air ambulance assigned to the 68th medical detachment of the Chu Lai Dustoff. Dedicated to those who served in Vietnam.
