Circa 1916
This building was designed by U.S. Government architect James Knox Taylor. It is a textbook example of Georgian Revival style architecture with its massive rectangular size, brick façade, cornice, arched windows, modillions under the eaves, and perfect symmetry throughout. From the time the post office opened, the grand scale of the building made it a landmark. The postal service operated out of this location until overcrowding necessitated a move in 1977.HM Number | HM2FXT |
