The battery was engaged: at Grand Gulf, the evening of March 31, against Admiral Farragut's vessels. Casualties, killed 2, wounded 2, total 4, Capt. Henry Cuibor wounded; in the defense of Grand Gulf, April 29, without reported casualties; in the Battle of Port Gibson, May 1, without reported casualties; in the battle of Champion's Hill, May 16, casualties, missing 2; and at Big Black River Bridge, May 17, without reported casualties. A detachment served three 6-pounder guns in positions at and near this tablet from May 19 to the end of the defense, July 4, 1863. Another detachment probably served one 12-pounder howitzer on the line of Cummings Brigade in an undetermined position. Casualties in battery during the defense: killed 1, wounded 4, total 5. Aggregate reported casualties in battery during the campaign
and defense: killed 3, wounded 6, missing 2, total 11.
