Historical Marker
The First Baptist Church was established in 1874 and is the oldest African-American congregation in the city of Reidsville. The Gothic revival-style architectural building was located at 401 South Scales Street adjacent to this site. The building was added to the "National Register of Historical Properties" on December 11, 1986. The building was included in the Reidsville, North Carolina: An Inventory of Historical and Architectural Resources and The Rich Heritage of African-Americans in North Carolina published by The North Carolina Department of Cultural Resources in 1981 and 2000, respectfully.HM Number | HM2IHX |
