In February, 1789, Samuel "Uncle Sam"
and Ebenezer Wilson set out from
Mason, N.H. on foot and headed for
Troy, N.Y., a new settlement with
opportunities for prosperity. By
summer, using the clay deposits found
on the west slope of Mount Ida, the
brothers established E. & S. Wilson,
a handmade brick making business.
