(1987-2007)

Kennedy was a child of the Eastern Shore who touched many lives with his vibrant spirit and his love for the Chesapeake Bay.

Growing up as a swimmer, boater, fisherman, and hunter, he was an Eagle Scout who worked summer jobs that would take him into a marsh or out on the water. While a student at the University of Maryland; he sailed across the Pacific Ocean as part of the Semester at Sea program, and routinely rousted his roommate with the declaration, "Get up! It's a good day to be alive!" He intended to be a scientist so he could help restore the Bay he loved.

Kennedy, his sister Maggie, and his girlfriend Christine Maier perished in a fire at the family's home here on the Miles River in 2007.

We have added some of Kennedy's books and gear to this traditional waterman's shanty as a memorial to the life of this extraordinary young man.
