A Lawyer and World War II U.S. Navy Veteran. Served Louisiana in the United States Senate for seven terms under eight different U.S. Presidents from 1948 to 1987. The son of legendary Louisiana Governor and U.S. Senator Huey Pierce Long and Rose McConnell long, he was a tireless champion of poor, disadvantaged and working Americans using his mastery of law, finance and politics, Russell Long improved the lives of millions while promoting business growth.
