translation: José Rosas Moreno (1838-1883) Born in Lagos de Moreno, Jalisco in 1838. Literary author and politician, he was a government representative for several terms. He wrote in several literary genres, including poetry and theater, of which his best known work is about Juana Inés de la Cruz. He also spent time writing children's literature and wrote beautiful fables, some which were translated into English by the poet William J.C. Bryant. He died in 1883.
