"Leyes de Reforma", es famoso por su frase: "Los Valientes no asesinan"Dicha en defensa del presidente Benito Juárez, ante la inminente amenaza de ser asesinado en su presencia, por sus propios oficiales, cumpliendo las órdenes del conservador Filemón Bravo en Guadalajara. Su obra poética es vasta, en sus poemas "Los san Lunes de Fidel" y "Musa Callejera" recrea en cuadros costumbristas la vida popular de nuestra ciudad en aquella época. English translation: Guillermo Prieto (1818-1897) Born in Mexico City, he was both poet and a Liberal politician with anticlerical and populist views. He was an important character in our country's politics, in which he participated actively. As Minister of Finance he collaborated in the preparation of the Reform Laws and is famous for the phrase: "The brave



can not be killed." This was said in defense of President Benito Juarez, before the imminent threat of his being assassinated by his own officers complying with the orders of the Conservative Filemón Bravo in Guadalajara. His poetic work is vast. In his poems "Los San Lunes de Fidel" and "Musa Callejera" he recreates the popular life of our city at that time.
