— Tulsa's Historic Route 66 —

The Browsery building was constructed c. 1937 as a block of
three buildings which hosted many businesses throughout the
decades. Its most famous resident, Wayne Henry "Wolf Robe'"
Hunt, ran an Indian Trading Post and offered all manner of
authentic Indian goods.

Wolf Robe Hunt was a Native American, born in 1905
at Acoma Pueblo in New Mexico. He was an artist of many
mediums but became most well-known for his silversmithing
and turquoise jewelry. Hunt closed his trading post on 11th
Street around 1960 and moved to a new location on
Route 66, across from the Blue Whale in Catoosa, OK.

The Browsery was later home to a café and beauty shop,
among other business. The building was demolished in 1998.
