This Baptist Church, constitutedin March 1775, was first situatedon Pipe Creek in upper St. Peter'sParish near the Savannah River.Prior to 1836 it was moved toLawtonville, where its buildingwas used as a hospital by UnionForces in 1865. Pipe Creek Churchbecame Lawtonville Church in 1884.The church moved here in 1911 whenthe present building was erected.
