The A-7 Corsair II was a carrier-based lightattack aircraft designed to replace the A-4Skyhawk. The aircraft was given its popularname in honor of the WW II F-4U Corsair. TheCorsair II (A-7A) made its combat debut in late1967 aboard the USS Ranger (CV-61) duringthe Vietnam War.
