This tablet is placed byTallapoosa Countyin commemoration of theone hundredth anniversaryof theBattle Of Horseshoe Bend,fought within its limitson March 27, 1814.

There the Creek Indians, led byMenawa and other chiefs, weredefeated by the American andallied indian forces underGen. Andrew Jackson.

This battle broke the powerof the fierce Muscogee, broughtpeace to the Southern frontier,and made possible the speedyopening up of a large part of theState of Alabama to civilization.Dadeville, AlabamaMarch 27, 1914.
