Inscription
Constructed in 1908-09 with a grant from the Andrew Carnegie Corporation. Building designed in the Greek Revival style of architecture by A.D. Fellows. Formally dedicated May 26, 1909, it housed the City Library for 59 years. Auburn City offices occupied the basement floor until 1937. Building vacated by the library system in 1968 following the merger of City and County library systems. Designated California Point of Historical Interest in 2000.
