Born in Greenwood, SC, on July 30, 1934, Harry M. Hallman, Jr., dedicated much of his adult life topublic service. He was elected Mayor of the Town ofMount Pleasant in 2000. Mayor Hallman'sadministration was responsible for unprecedentedconstruction of highways and recreation facilitiesas well as establishing innovative and strategic landuse planning and growth management policies. He wasinstrumental in establishing and funding the Medalof Honor Museum aboard the USS Yorktown at PatriotsPoint Naval and Maritime Museum. On June 5, 2008, byjoint resolution of the South Carolina Senate andHouse of Representatives, this boulevard linkingMathis Ferry Road and Patriots Point Boulevard wasnamed in honor of Harry M. Hallman, Jr., inrecognition of his lifetime of public service.
