Built by Leslie P. Nichols and brother in 1877, it was the only schoolhouse in the county made of bricks from a local kiln. The school was two stories high. The top floor was used as the town hall, and school was held on the lower floor. It housed students from 1st through 9th grades and was one of the finest schoolhouses in Northern California. The first teacher was Albert Morrell.HM Number | HMSEQ |
