Antonin Dvorak

— 1841 - 1904 —

Lived in a house on this site
from 1892 until 1895

In memory of his 100th birthday
and for future generations of
free Czechoslovakia, the
grateful government in exile
caused this inscription to be
erected initially on
December 13th 1941
Longing for his Czech
home, yet happily inspired
by the freedom of American life,
he wrote here among other works
the New World Symphony,
Biblical Songs and the
Cello Concerto.

Adapted from the commemorative
plaque celebrating
Dvorak's 100th birthday.
