Built in 1910 - Dismantled in 1945

— Affectionately known as "Sunset School" —

Sunset School was a beautiful two and one half story building made of brick and stone
In 1902 oil was eighteen to twenty cents a barrel. In 1905, oil advanced to forty cents a barrel and in the fall of 1908, oil raised to sixty-two and one-half cents a barrel.
Coalinga was the typical western mining camp - instead of gold or silver it was oil.
With the greater profits of 1907-09 also came a greater stability. Better homes were built and the shack era passed away. Along with prosperity came the pride in community, to build the best schools in the land,
