Through 24 years of public service, Mr. Mason worked tirelessly to increase housing and employment opportunities for minorities. Mr. Mason was an exceptional civil rights leader and human being. He served numerous roles throughout the city: Industrial Secretary for the Urban League of Pittsburgh, Executive Director of the Mayor's Commission on Human Relations, Deputy Director of the Fair Employment Practices Commission, an active member of the Pittsburgh chapter of the NAACP, and the first African American to serve as President of Pittsburgh City Council.HM Number | HM1HMC |
