The George E. Ingersol Post #658 dedicates this plaque to George E. Ingersol, the first Fair Haven veteran to die in World War I. This Fair Haven Post was chartered in January of 1922, and named after him in recognition of his ultimate sacrifice. Let this plaque keep alive the memories of all those who offered their lives so that justice, freedom, and democracy might survive. The lives of those who have made the supreme sacrifice are glorious before us; their deeds are an inspiration. As they served American in time of war, yielding their last full measure of devotion, may we serve America in time of peace. For God and country, in honored memory of the men and women who have served in all our country's conflicts.
