— Historical Jackson County, Wis. —

   In the early 1900's Peter J. Hoffman organized a dray line & road construction business. Horse & mule teams pulled
wagons & slip dirt scrapes. His wife Anna collected the bills. The construction company had 10 employees.


   In 1927 Hoffman Construction incorporated. Duane, Peter's son, joined the company. Gas and diesel bulldozers replaced

horse & mule power. The company contracted with the Wisconsin Highway Commission & built many highways in Western Wisconsin.

   In the 1950's and 1960's Peter & David, Duane's sons joined the company. They later bought the company as co-owners in 1982. Today, Paul & Jim, Peter's sons and Mark & Kristine David's son & daughter joined the company
in 1989. The fourth generation construction co. now employs over 250 people. Yearly contracts with Wis. Dept. of Transportation total $12-$25 million.
