Ancient Mounds Trail
An earthen wall and 9 mounds were once a prominent part of the landscape here. Early explorers described the largest mound or "Great Mound" as being 82 feet high, the tallest mound known in Louisiana. The earth-works were built between 100 BC and AD 700. Only portions of the mounds and wall remain.Lower PlaqueThis archaeological site is on private property.
